Warren County, Tennessee – March 16, 2025 – Two individuals have been arrested in connection with a homicide case following the discovery of a man’s body under a mattress in Warren County on Friday, March 14.
According to District Attorney General Chris Stanford of the 31st Judicial District, the Warren County Sheriff’s Department responded to a report of a homicide at approximately 4 p.m. on Friday along Holcomb Road. The caller claimed that 45-year-old Nina Jean Judkins and 54-year-old David Zeb Alexander, also known as “Day-Day,” confessed to killing 56-year-old Bruce Allen Morton. The caller further stated that, after Morton’s death, the suspects allegedly hid his body under a mattress.
Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered a camper belonging to Morton on the property. Deputies noticed a mattress positioned outside the camper, with human feet visible protruding from its side. After removing the mattress, they found Morton’s body, which was covered with a piece of wood and a blanket. Although the deputies attempted to revive Morton, they were unable to locate a pulse. Based on the condition of the body, investigators determined that Morton had likely been deceased for several hours prior to the discovery.
After being informed of their rights, Judkins reportedly confessed to her involvement in the crime, implicating both herself and Alexander. The motive behind the killing appeared to stem from an allegation that Morton had stolen a personal item from the suspects. Physical evidence recovered from the Holcomb Road property, following the execution of a search warrant, appears to substantiate the claims made by both the witnesses and the offenders regarding the events leading up to and following Morton’s death.
Both Judkins and Alexander are currently being held in the Warren County Jail on charges of criminal homicide and abuse of a corpse. Each suspect has been assigned a bond of $1.6 million.
District Attorney General Stanford expressed his condolences to the family of the victim, stating, “The family and loved ones of Bruce Morton are in my prayers. Please join me in turning our thoughts and prayers to the surviving loved ones affected by this tragic murder.” He also reassured the community that law enforcement would continue to work diligently to bring justice for Morton and seek maximum punishment for those responsible.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have yet to release further details regarding the circumstances surrounding the crime.
As this case develops, both the Warren County Sheriff’s Department and Stanford’s office remain committed to holding violent offenders accountable and ensuring justice is served.
