Knoxville, TN – The University of Tennessee Police Department announced enhanced safety operations for the Savannah Bananas event held at Neyland Stadium despite rainy weather conditions.
According to the department, members of its K-9 Unit, along with officers from the Knoxville Police Department, Knox County Sheriff’s Office, Pigeon Forge Police Department, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, conducted K-9 sweeps throughout the event area.
Additional support agencies included the Blount County Sheriff’s Office, Loudon County Sheriff’s Office, Anderson County Sheriff’s Office, Tennessee Highway Patrol, Knoxville Fire Department, AMR East Tennessee, UT Medical Center, Jefferson City Police Department, and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
Officials said officers in high-visibility uniforms assisted with traffic control, road closures, and crowd safety around the stadium area throughout the event.
The department also encouraged attendees to lock vehicles, avoid leaving valuables in sight, arrange sober transportation if needed, and prepare for heavy traffic due to the large crowd.
