MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — The Murfreesboro Police Department has launched an investigation following a series of car break-ins that occurred over Memorial Day.

Authorities are searching for a man and a woman believed to have broken into at least seven vehicles across several locations, including the Fountains at Gateway, Manson Pike Trailhead, and the pickleball courts on Golf Lane. The incidents reportedly took place on Monday afternoon.

According to Larry Flowers, public information officer for the Murfreesboro Police Department, the suspects stole a variety of items, including cash, credit and debit cards, iPads, and iPhones. Surveillance footage later captured the duo leaving a store with a video gaming system, suggesting they went on a shopping spree with the stolen goods.

“This is just one example of ongoing car break-ins in the area,” Flowers said. In a separate case, two men were arrested on misdemeanor charges after residents reported seeing them breaking into vehicles.

The department emphasized the importance of preventative measures for residents. “We have park officers patrolling our parks and greenways, but they can’t be everywhere at once,” Flowers said. “We ask people to park smart: remove valuables, don’t leave anything in plain sight, take your keys, and be sure your doors are locked.”

Police also advised against approaching anyone caught in the act of breaking into a car, warning that suspects may be armed. “Call the police and we’ll take it from there,” Flowers added.

The two suspects wanted in connection with the Memorial Day break-ins were seen driving a silver Hyundai SUV bearing a Tennessee license plate with the number BFB0638. Authorities noted that the license plate is registered to a different vehicle.

Anyone with information about the suspects or who spots the vehicle is encouraged to contact Detective Ferree at 629-201-5628.
