NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A 34-year-old man has been charged with attempted homicide after allegedly shooting a man on a South Nashville sidewalk last Friday, according to court documents.

The incident occurred on the 80 block of Fain Street on May 23, when a 43-year-old victim was attending a cookout with his girlfriend and their 4-year-old daughter. According to authorities, the victim reported hearing shouting before six to seven gunshots were fired.

The victim sustained a gunshot wound to his lower right leg, which resulted in a shattered femur. He was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment.

The victim’s girlfriend was inside their vehicle when the shooting began. Despite the vehicle being struck by six bullets — five in the passenger side and one through the hood — she managed to drive away from the scene.

Investigators recovered nine 9mm cartridge casings, two bullet fragments, and a projectile at the scene.

Officials identified the suspect as 34-year-old Gerald Page, who was named by the victim. Court records reveal a prior altercation between the two men: the victim was previously charged earlier this year for shooting Page in February. The victim was arrested in Murfreesboro on March 19 and admitted involvement in that shooting.

Page was charged with four felonies related to the February incident and remains in custody on a $150,000 bond.

Following the May 23 shooting, Page now faces attempted homicide charges.
