NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A fatal motorcycle crash occurred on the evening of Friday, April 25, near a Walmart in Hermitage, resulting in the death of a Mt. Juliet man.
The collision took place in the 4400 block of Lebanon Pike, when a westbound Suzuki motorcycle collided with the rear driver’s side of a Toyota Tundra pickup truck. According to the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD), the Tundra had just pulled out of the Walmart parking lot and was preparing to turn east onto Lebanon Pike when the crash occurred.
The motorcyclist, later identified as 47-year-old Jeremy Whitaker of Mt. Juliet, was rushed to TriStar Skyline Medical Center following the accident. Unfortunately, Whitaker succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival. Authorities confirmed that neither the driver nor the passenger in the pickup truck sustained any injuries.
Preliminary findings from the investigation suggest that excessive speed on the part of the motorcyclist may have played a role in the crash. Police have not released further details surrounding the incident as the investigation continues.
This tragic event marks another reminder of the risks involved on the road, particularly for motorcyclists, and authorities are urging caution while driving in the area.
As the investigation moves forward, the Metro Nashville Police Department is asking anyone with additional information to come forward.
