Nashville, TN – Three additional male suspects were arrested today in connection with a stolen Toyota Sequoia, following an investigation by the Madison Precinct and Violent Crimes detectives. The suspects, two 15-year-olds and a 16-year-old, were charged with vehicle theft and evading arrest. The 16-year-old, who has an extensive juvenile record, was previously arrested in June and August of 2024 on charges related to burglary, vehicle theft, and theft of a firearm.

The chain of events leading to the arrests began early today, when Violent Crimes detectives located the stolen SUV traveling through East Nashville. The vehicle had been previously spotted on Tuesday morning, when officers attempted to stop it after observing the driver speeding along Gallatin Pike at dangerously high rates. The pursuit was called off after the driver ran multiple stop signs and red lights in an effort to evade capture.

Just after midnight today, the stolen Toyota Sequoia was spotted again, prompting another pursuit. Despite fleeing at high speeds, officers were able to track the vehicle using an MNPD helicopter. Spike strips were successfully deployed, and the SUV eventually came to a stop on Delaware Avenue in Madison. The 14-year-old driver, along with his two passengers, fled the scene on foot.

Officer Garrett Reingardt, along with his canine partner Wick, followed the suspects’ flight path and apprehended the 14-year-old on Dueling Avenue. During the arrest, the driver discarded a handgun and his cell phone. The other two passengers, however, managed to escape.

The 14-year-old driver now faces multiple charges in Juvenile Court, including theft of a vehicle, juvenile handgun possession, evading arrest, reckless driving, driving without a license, and possession of burglary tools. This marks the second time in less than a year that the young suspect has been arrested in connection with stolen vehicles. In January 2024, at the age of 13, the suspect was charged with vehicle theft and evading arrest. In September 2024, at age 14, he was again charged with vehicle theft, theft of a firearm, reckless driving, and leaving the scene of a crash involving personal injury after wrecking a stolen vehicle.

The stolen Toyota Sequoia was taken from a residence on Brush Hill Road on Tuesday night, just before the pursuit began. Investigators continue to look into the teens’ potential involvement in additional burglaries and vehicle crimes in the area. The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities are working to locate the remaining suspects involved in the incident.
