NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A group of teenagers was arrested after throwing a party at a newly-built home in East Nashville, causing extensive damage to the property. The incident, which occurred on February 28, involved a large crowd of teenagers who entered the vacant house on Riverside Drive without the homeowner’s knowledge or consent.
Kyle Grasser, the homeowner, expressed his dismay at the situation. “It was just a mess in here,” he told News 2. “You put a lot of work into making something like this happen, and you just feel helpless against that kind of crowd.” Grasser discovered the unauthorized party after noticing several teenagers inside the home, which was listed for sale.
Metro Nashville Police Department detectives later identified a dozen suspects, including four 17-year-olds, five 16-year-olds, and three 15-year-olds. The investigation was aided by video footage taken by the homeowner, as well as social media posts shared by the partygoers. The videos provided critical evidence that led to the arrests.
The damages to the property were extensive, with light fixtures ripped from the ceiling and significant damage to the walls, resulting in an estimated repair cost of $16,000. The teens involved face charges of felony vandalism and aggravated criminal trespassing. Authorities have indicated that at least one more arrest is expected in connection with the case.
This incident highlights the potential risks of vacant properties and the importance of maintaining security, especially when homes are on the market. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to ensure that all individuals responsible for the vandalism are held accountable.
