DEKALB COUNTY, Tenn. — The remains of Brittany Miller, a 31-year-old woman who had been missing for more than two years, were identified over the weekend after being discovered in a wooded area in DeKalb County. The body was found on Saturday, January 11, 2025, by two hunters near Man Hill Road in the Snow Hill community, just after 1 p.m.

Miller was last seen at her home on Hurricane Ridge Road on July 4, 2022. Her sudden disappearance sparked extensive search efforts by local authorities and volunteers, who conducted numerous searches utilizing drones, helicopters, boats, and a grid search system. Despite these efforts, her whereabouts remained a mystery until her remains were located on Saturday.

Sheriff Ray of DeKalb County confirmed that the remains were identified as Miller’s through dental records. Following the discovery, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) has taken over the case, which is now considered a death investigation. However, authorities have withheld specific details regarding the circumstances of her death.

“We are not disclosing how the body was found or the cause of death due to the sensitive nature of the investigation,” Sheriff Ray stated.

The discovery of Miller’s remains has brought both sorrow and relief to her family and the community, ending a long period of uncertainty. As the TBI continues its investigation, officials urge anyone with information to come forward to assist in determining the circumstances surrounding her death.

The case remains under active investigation, and authorities are working to piece together the events leading up to Miller’s disappearance and eventual discovery.
