NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A criminal homicide warrant has been issued for a man accused of fatally stabbing his estranged wife early Monday morning in the parking lot of an elementary school in Madison.

According to the Metro Nashville Police Department, officers responded to Chadwell Elementary School at approximately 6 a.m. after a school staff member discovered the body of 52-year-old Niurka Alfonso-Acevedo in the parking lot. Alfonso-Acevedo, a custodian at the school since the fall, was reportedly found with fatal stab wounds.

Investigators say the suspect, 54-year-old Candido Raul Rubio-Perez, had been waiting in the parking lot for his estranged wife before the violent confrontation occurred. Authorities believe that the murder took place before students arrived at the school, as confirmed by school officials.

Alfonso-Acevedo’s death has shaken the local community, with many expressing shock and sadness over the senseless act of violence. The Metro Nashville Police Department has urged anyone with information about Rubio-Perez’s whereabouts to come forward. Authorities are offering a cash reward of up to $5,000 for tips that lead to an arrest, with callers able to remain anonymous by contacting Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.

As the investigation continues, the search for Rubio-Perez remains ongoing, with law enforcement asking the public to stay vigilant and report any relevant information that could assist in locating him.

Alfonso-Acevedo’s tragic death is a stark reminder of the dangers posed by domestic violence and the far-reaching consequences of such violence in communities. Those experiencing domestic abuse are encouraged to reach out to support networks and hotlines to seek help and guidance.

The investigation is ongoing, and further updates will be provided as new information becomes available.
