A former Nashville Predators player was arrested this past weekend after being involved in a hit-and-run accident in Nolensville, Tennessee. Martin Erat, 43, who played 11 seasons with the Predators, faces multiple charges, including driving under the influence (DUI), leaving the scene of a crash, and failure to exercise due care.

The incident began around 3 p.m. on Saturday afternoon when multiple callers reported a blue Tesla driving recklessly near Nolensville Road and Brittain Lane. Officers responded to the area but were unable to locate the vehicle. Shortly thereafter, at 3:25 p.m., Nolensville police received another call, alerting them to a hit-and-run involving the same blue Tesla and a white Cadillac Escalade in a nearby subdivision.

Witnesses at the scene identified Martin Erat as the driver of the Tesla. Police later confirmed his involvement and arrested him. Brentwood police officials confirmed the arrest but did not release additional details regarding the investigation. Erat has since been released on a $30,000 bond.

Erat, a popular figure in the Middle Tennessee hockey community, currently serves as the director of hockey and player development for the Nashville Warriors, a Tier 2 hockey program. He also coaches the Nashville Jr. Predators 12U team, a role that has further cemented his presence in local youth hockey.

The news of his arrest has shocked many in the community. Local resident Steve Brunett expressed disappointment but also offered a hopeful perspective. “It’s unfortunate that he didn’t set a better example, but I’m sure he will probably change his ways. Hopefully, this will make a better person out of him,” Brunett said. “These guys will look at it as a mistake and learn from it.”

Erat’s charges have drawn attention, especially considering his prominent role in the local hockey scene. As of publication, Erat remains out on bond, with further details about the investigation pending.
