NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A former support staff member at Antioch High School has been arrested and charged with solicitation of a minor after a Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) investigation revealed inappropriate communications with a 14-year-old student.
Clarence Davis II, 35, who served as an assistant basketball coach and support staff member at the school, was suspended from his duties after school officials were made aware of the investigation.
The inquiry began on January 14 after a resource officer was notified that Davis had been engaging in inappropriate communication with the student on Instagram.
The MNPD’s Youth Services division launched an investigation, which uncovered that Davis had sent explicit messages to the teen through social media. In response, Antioch High School took immediate action, suspending Davis from his position pending the outcome of the investigation.
Davis has been charged with 19 counts of solicitation of a minor, especially aggravated sexual exploitation, and one count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. All charges relate to his interactions with the victim.
Davis is currently being held at the Metro Jail on a bond of $192,500.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with additional information to come forward.
As the case continues to unfold, law enforcement officials are focused on ensuring justice for the victim and determining whether other students were involved.
The charges against Davis have raised concerns about the safety of students and the responsibilities of school staff members.
The swift actions of both the school district and law enforcement highlight a commitment to addressing misconduct and protecting students from harm.
