Ridgetop, Tenn. — A 27-year-old driver is in critical condition following a single-vehicle crash early Saturday morning on Highway 41 South in Ridgetop. According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP), the accident occurred around 5:19 a.m. near the intersection of Highway 41 South and Lake Road.
The driver, operating a red Honda Accord, was traveling northbound when the vehicle veered off the right side of the road. The car struck an embankment, causing it to become airborne. The Accord then collided with a sign before flipping multiple times, ejecting the driver in the process.
THP officials said the vehicle eventually came to a stop after hitting a tree. Investigators revealed that the driver was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The injured driver was transported to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, where they are being treated for critical injuries. Authorities confirmed that charges are pending as the investigation continues.
