RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn. — Authorities are actively searching for a man wanted in connection with the shooting of a 4-year-old boy in Rutherford County. The suspect, 19-year-old Taliek Gallishaw-King, is facing multiple charges, including evidence tampering and reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon. This incident occurred on Saturday, February 22, 2025.

According to the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a call early Saturday morning and arrived at a home on Tessa Grace Road. There, they found the young boy with a gunshot wound. The child was immediately transported to Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt in Nashville, where he underwent surgery and is expected to survive.

While the child’s injuries are serious, officials report that he is recovering. Authorities have confirmed that the child was released to the custody of his guardians. However, additional charges may be considered depending on the ongoing investigation.

Gallishaw-King, who was reportedly out on bond for an attempted murder charge in Smyrna, is now wanted for questioning. Authorities have issued a public request for information regarding his whereabouts. In a Facebook post shared on Sunday, February 23, the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office reminded the public of the importance of locking vehicle doors. They emphasized that leaving valuables, such as electronics, firearms, or tobacco products in an unlocked vehicle can make one an easy target for theft.

The department posted: “We appreciate the officers for a swift and diligent response, but this could have been avoided. PLEASE REMEMBER TO LOCK YOUR DOORS.”

At this time, no further details have been released regarding the circumstances surrounding the shooting, but the investigation is ongoing. Authorities continue to urge anyone with information on Gallishaw-King’s whereabouts to come forward.
