Knoxville, TN – The Knoxville Police Department announced the arrest of a Knoxville man in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred Saturday evening on Jefferson Avenue.
Officers responded to a home in the 2700 block of Jefferson Avenue at approximately 5:30 p.m. on May 23, 2026. Upon arrival, officers found 52-year-old Lakeisha Johnson deceased outside the residence from an apparent gunshot wound.
According to investigators, evidence collected during the investigation, including a review of security footage, identified the victim’s husband, Shervon Johnson, 53, as the suspect.
Police said Johnson was not at the scene when officers arrived. Authorities later determined he was likely located at a property on Ball Camp Road. Just before midnight, officers assigned to the Community Engagement Response Team took Johnson into custody at that location without incident.
Johnson has been charged with second-degree murder and convicted felon in possession of a weapon.
