One Killed in Early Morning Rollover Crash on I-24 Near Rutherford County Line

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A fatal rollover crash on Interstate 24 near the Rutherford County line left one person dead and another with life-threatening injuries early Thursday morning.

The accident occurred in the eastbound lanes of the interstate near mile marker 62 at approximately 1:15 a.m. According to Metro Nashville Police, two individuals were traveling in a vehicle when they attempted to avoid another crash. The vehicle lost control, resulting in a rollover.

One person was killed instantly, while the other was transported with severe, life-threatening injuries. Authorities have not released the names of the victims at this time.

The crash prompted the closure of the eastbound lanes of I-24, from the Old Hickory Boulevard exit to the Waldron Road exit. Traffic was halted for several hours as emergency crews worked to clear the scene.

The roadway was fully reopened to traffic just before 7 a.m. No additional details have been made available as investigations into the cause of the crash continue.

This incident remains under investigation by local authorities.
