NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A Brentwood man was arrested Monday after authorities say he admitted to making multiple threats to attack a federal building in downtown Nashville. Alexander F. Thompson, 35, was taken into custody following an investigation led by the Metro Nashville Police Department’s Specialized Investigation Division.

According to police, Thompson allegedly made several threatening statements late Sunday evening, communicated via emails and social media posts. In the threats, he expressed his intent to “firebomb” the Fred D. Thompson U.S. Courthouse and Federal Building within the next two weeks.

The threats, which authorities were able to trace back to Thompson’s personal accounts, prompted a swift response from law enforcement. Police arrested him at his place of employment in Goodlettsville, where he reportedly confessed to making the threats and revealed his plans to carry out the attack.

Thompson now faces charges of felony terrorism and felony false reporting. He is currently being held in the Metro jail on a $100,000 bond, and the investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to assess the full scope of his actions.

This incident underscores the heightened vigilance of law enforcement in responding to potential threats against federal institutions. The Metro Nashville Police Department is urging the public to report any suspicious activity to ensure the safety of both the community and government buildings.
