Nashville, TN — A 17-year-old has been charged with multiple counts of attempted criminal homicide following a shooting that left his two younger sisters injured early Wednesday morning in Antioch Park.

According to the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD), the teenager opened fire on a vehicle at approximately 5 a.m. on January 1. The shooting resulted in injuries to his 12- and 13-year-old sisters, who were both transported to TriStar Southern Hills Medical Center by a private vehicle. Fortunately, their injuries were not life-threatening, though they were still significant.

The police were first alerted when the sisters arrived at the hospital, prompting authorities to investigate the circumstances of the shooting. Shortly afterward, the 17-year-old suspect arrived at the medical center after learning about the injuries to his siblings.

Upon questioning, the teenager admitted to firing at the vehicle, explaining that he believed the car was connected to several recent vehicle burglaries in the area. He also stated that he did not realize his sisters were inside the vehicle at the time of the shooting. A preliminary investigation revealed that seven individuals were inside the car when the shots were fired.

The MNPD has continued its investigation into the incident, which remains ongoing. In addition to attempted criminal homicide, the teenager faces other charges related to the shooting. As the case develops, authorities are working to clarify the full sequence of events leading to the shooting and its aftermath.

The incident has left the community shaken, and questions about the teenager’s motives and actions continue to linger as investigators gather more information.
