MT. JULIET, Tenn. — Two wanted individuals, including one described as a “violent fugitive” on the run for nearly eight years, were arrested in Mt. Juliet on Sunday, March 9, following separate traffic stops by the Mt. Juliet Police Department (MJPD).

The first arrest occurred shortly after 2:15 p.m. when a 37-year-old Nashville man was pulled over on Interstate 40 East for driving a vehicle with a suspended license plate. During the stop, authorities discovered that the man was wanted by the Mississippi Department of Corrections. He was reportedly listed on a full extradition warrant issued in June 2017, stemming from a violation of probation for felony aggravated domestic assault.

“This arrest highlights the importance of officers’ vigilance in maintaining safety in our community,” said the Mt. Juliet Police Department in a post shared on social media. “We are grateful for their dedication.”

Just 15 minutes later, at approximately 2:30 p.m., MJPD made another arrest following a traffic stop for a brake light violation on South Mt. Juliet Road, near Providence Marketplace. The driver, a 59-year-old man from La Vergne, was found to have been wanted by Wilson County authorities since August 2023. The man was being sought in connection with a felony theft case involving over $60,000.

MJPD officials reiterated their commitment to maintaining public safety, adding, “We appreciate our officers’ vigilance and dedication to keeping Mt. Juliet one of the safest communities around!”

Both individuals were taken into custody without incident. Authorities did not immediately release additional details regarding their pending legal proceedings.
