MT. JULIET, Tenn. — Three individuals were arrested Wednesday afternoon after a routine traffic stop led to the discovery of illegal drugs and outstanding warrants, according to Mt. Juliet police.
Officers initiated the traffic stop after noticing a Chevrolet HHR displaying an improperly assigned license plate. The plate, originally registered to a Mercedes, raised suspicion. During the stop, police discovered a 50-year-old Nashville man in possession of cocaine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.
Further investigation revealed that a 39-year-old Murfreesboro woman in the vehicle was also carrying cocaine and drug paraphernalia. The woman provided officers with a false identity and was found to be wanted out of Nashville for failure to be booked in connection with a previous charge.
A third individual, a 38-year-old woman from Nashville, was also found with cocaine and drug paraphernalia. Police learned that she had an outstanding warrant for domestic assault with bodily injury.
All three individuals were arrested and taken into custody. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities continue to address drug-related crimes in the area.
The Mt. Juliet Police Department reminds the public that even routine traffic stops can result in significant criminal discoveries.
