NASHVILLE, Tenn. — President Donald Trump’s address to Congress on Tuesday evening drew strong reactions from Tennessee’s Republican lawmakers, who praised the former president’s policies and vision for the future of the country.

Governor Bill Lee took to social media, highlighting Trump’s focus on boosting energy efficiency. Lee noted that Tennessee is a national leader in nuclear energy innovation and school choice, emphasizing the state’s alignment with Trump’s priorities. “Tennessee is leading the nation in nuclear energy innovation & school choice, & we now have a partner in the White House who understands why these priorities are critical to America’s success,” Lee posted on X (formerly Twitter).

Senator Marsha Blackburn was quick to endorse Trump’s message, stating, “President Donald Trump is delivering on his promises to the American people. He is indeed renewing the American Dream.” Blackburn’s remarks underscored her support for Trump’s continued commitment to policies she believes resonate with Tennesseans and the broader American public.

Other Republican leaders from Tennessee also voiced their approval of the former president’s address. Senator Bill Hagerty called the speech “inspiring” and expressed optimism about the future. “The renewal of the American Dream is in full swing,” Hagerty said.

Representatives Tim Burchett and Andy Ogles also commended Trump’s vision for the nation, with Burchett praising Trump’s focus on energy independence and Ogles applauding his commitment to strengthening the U.S. economy.

Rep. Scott DesJarlais, another Tennessee Republican, released a statement praising the president’s accomplishments during his first term, noting the administration’s success in eliminating “woke DEI policies, overburdensome regulations, and wasteful government spending.” DesJarlais specifically highlighted the sharp decline in illegal migrant border crossings under the Trump administration, contrasting it with the policies of the Biden administration.

“The behavior displayed by those on the Left tonight was unconscionable,” DesJarlais said in reference to the reactions from some Democratic lawmakers during the speech. “Proper respect and decorum for the president is expected out of any decent human being, especially those elected to serve in the United States Congress.” He added that despite the interruptions, the focus of House Republicans would remain on advancing the America First agenda.

Trump’s address resonated strongly with Tennessee’s GOP leaders, who seem unified in their support for his vision of a stronger economy, secure borders, and energy independence. While some Democrats in the chamber may have disrupted the speech, the Tennessee Republicans remain steadfast in their commitment to Trump’s policies and the promises made during his first term in office.
