Nashville, TN – A high school student in Putnam County, Tennessee, who was already suspended for possessing a THC vaping device, now faces additional charges following an investigation by the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO). The investigation was triggered after a concerned citizen reported suspicious information to a deputy on Monday.

According to the PCSO, the tip led school resource officers and detectives to further investigate the student’s home. During this investigation, authorities discovered that the juvenile was in possession of components capable of being used to create an explosive device—raising serious concerns about public safety.

The discovery prompted the PCSO to request assistance from the Tennessee Highway Patrol’s Special Operations Unit, which specializes in handling hazardous materials. The 13th Judicial District Attorney’s Office was also consulted to ensure the proper legal procedures were followed in the case. As a result, the student was charged with possession of explosive components.

Authorities have emphasized that the investigation remains active, and they are continuing to gather information. Anyone with further knowledge or relevant details regarding the case is encouraged to contact the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office.

The situation has sparked concerns about student safety and the potential for harmful actions involving dangerous materials. Local law enforcement agencies are working to ensure that the investigation is thoroughly conducted, and the community is kept informed as more details emerge.
