Nashville, Tenn. — A 73-year-old woman was found guilty on charges related to the murder of her husband, 68-year-old Thomas Roberts, following an incident on the evening of July 9, 2023. Christine Ann Roberts was accused of fatally shooting her husband in the chest in a violent altercation that unfolded in the 1200 block of Howard Avenue.

According to reports from the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department (MNPD), neighbors in the area heard the gunshot and immediately rushed to the scene, offering assistance. Authorities later confirmed that Thomas Roberts succumbed to his injuries.

As the investigation into the shooting was unfolding, an unrelated but equally concerning incident occurred. Around 8:30 p.m., MNPD officers responded to reports of a suspect, 18-year-old Emmanuel Orr, who had fired shots at an officer’s patrol car. Officer Jeff Lubey was reportedly behind Orr’s vehicle when the young man fired three rounds into the patrol car. Fortunately, Officer Lubey was not injured during the encounter.

The suspect, who had been given commands to stop, abandoned his weapon and fled the scene, entering Mallard’s Restaurant. Authorities tracked Orr to the restaurant, where he barricaded himself in the restroom. After a brief standoff, Orr surrendered to police.

Orr was arrested and charged with several serious offenses, including felony weapon possession, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, attempted criminal homicide, and evading arrest. His bond was set at $380,000.

The circumstances surrounding both the murder of Thomas Roberts and Orr’s subsequent actions raise questions about domestic violence and public safety. As the legal proceedings continue for both Christine Roberts and Emmanuel Orr, the Nashville community remains shaken by these separate but equally troubling incidents.

Law enforcement continues to investigate the events leading up to these crimes, as authorities work to bring justice to the victims involved.
