NASHVILLE, Tenn. — James Josey III, a 34-year-old man with a history of similar offenses, was arrested Friday night after being caught recording a 16-year-old girl in the women’s restroom at the Hard Rock Cafe on Broadway.
The incident took place around 9 p.m., when witnesses confronted Josey after seeing him using his phone to film the teen in a bathroom stall.
Josey, who has been listed on the sex offender registry since 2015, admitted to the crime, telling authorities that he had recorded the minor for sexual gratification.
He was subsequently charged with invasion of privacy and disorderly conduct.
This incident marks another troubling chapter in Josey’s criminal history. In 2022, he was involved in a similar situation at the Hermitage Whataburger, where he was found recording several females—ranging in age from 2 to 34—in the women’s restroom.
Following that event, Josey was convicted of a misdemeanor and sentenced to a year in jail. Josey’s actions in Nashville add to a growing pattern of offenses, including reports of similar behavior in Knoxville.
His repeated offenses have raised concerns about the effectiveness of monitoring individuals on the sex offender registry and the measures in place to prevent such incidents.
As the investigation into Friday night’s arrest continues, police are urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity in public places.
