MT. JULIET, Tenn. — A 22-year-old Lebanon man is facing multiple charges after a high-speed incident along Interstate 40 on Thursday, February 20. Authorities say the driver, already wanted for a previous drug charge, was caught speeding in excess of 100 mph, prompting a traffic stop that uncovered several other violations.

According to the Mt. Juliet Police Department, an officer was conducting a routine check of road conditions when he observed the driver speeding past at an alarming rate of 100 mph. Rather than slowing down, the suspect allegedly accelerated further, reaching speeds of nearly 120 mph.

Upon stopping the vehicle, officers discovered that the man was driving on a suspended license. Further investigation revealed an active warrant for his arrest in Wilson County, related to a prior failure to appear in court for a drug charge. Additionally, officers found that the vehicle had a forged temporary tag, further complicating the situation.

The driver was promptly arrested and charged with reckless driving, driving on a suspended license, forgery of a license plate, and for the active warrant for his drug-related charge.

Authorities have not yet released the identity of the individual or additional details about the circumstances surrounding the traffic stop. However, the arrest highlights the dangers of high-speed driving, especially when combined with other illegal activities.

The Mt. Juliet Police Department continues to remind motorists to obey speed limits and remain law-abiding on the roads, noting that such reckless behavior puts not only the driver but also other road users at risk.
