Investigations Underway After Threats and Arson at Places of Worship in Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Authorities in Middle Tennessee are investigating a series of incidents involving places of worship, including threats and arson.

In one disturbing case, a man allegedly threatened a local mosque, prompting an investigation by law enforcement. Meanwhile, in a separate incident on Thursday, a fire was deliberately set outside the First Apostolic Church in North Nashville. Surveillance footage captured the suspect setting fire to trash cans, which led to significant concern for the safety of the building.

The Nashville Fire Department (NFD) responded to the scene and quickly contained the flames, which had spread to the church’s siding and insulation. Firefighters were able to prevent further damage to the structure, though the fire remained active when crews first arrived. Pastor Dee Jay Shoulders of the First Apostolic Church expressed relief that the blaze did not extend inside the building. “Having investigators out here and seeing what happened — I won’t call it lucky. We were very blessed that it didn’t get on the inside of the building,” he said.

The NFD has asked the public to assist with identifying the person responsible for the arson, as investigators continue to search for leads. Authorities are treating these incidents seriously, given the potential danger posed to religious institutions in the area.

As the investigations unfold, both law enforcement and the public are urged to remain vigilant and report any relevant information that could assist in resolving these troubling events.
