NASHVILLE, TN — The Metro Nashville Police Department is investigating a deadly shooting that took place early Sunday morning on Interstate 40 East near the Fesslers Lane exit.

Authorities were alerted to the incident at approximately 2 a.m. on January 12, when officers responded to a report of a shooting on the eastbound lanes of I-40. Upon arriving at the scene, investigators discovered 26-year-old Uriel Miller in the driver’s seat of a Ford Crown Victoria. The vehicle was found up against the cement barrier dividing the eastbound and westbound lanes, with Miller suffering from a gunshot wound to his shoulder.

According to police, Miller is believed to have been shot while driving on the interstate. A closer inspection of the vehicle revealed that the front passenger window had been shot out, and the rear driver’s side window showed signs of bullet damage. Law enforcement also recovered a firearm from Miller’s driver-side door during their investigation.

As authorities continued to process the scene, eastbound lanes of I-40 were temporarily closed, causing traffic disruptions in the area. No further details about the motive or suspect(s) involved have been released at this time.

The investigation remains ongoing as the police department works to piece together the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
