LAWRENCE COUNTY, Tenn. — A house fire in Lawrence County on Tuesday afternoon claimed the life of one individual, prompting an investigation by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI). The fire occurred at a residence on Dobbins Road around 2 p.m., with multiple emergency units dispatched to the scene.

According to the Lawrence County Fire & Rescue Department, the home, a 3,000-square-foot split-level structure, was fully engulfed in flames when responders arrived. Dispatchers reported that family members had attempted to rescue a bed-bound patient trapped inside the house.

At the same time, fire and rescue personnel were managing an injury crash and responding to a high-priority medical call elsewhere in the county. Due to these concurrent emergencies and the absence of fire hydrants in the area, additional resources were called in to assist. Firefighters relied on hand-lines and master streams to suppress the blaze while continuing rescue efforts, though unfortunately, the patient did not survive.

The TBI has initiated an investigation to determine the cause and origin of the fire, with the Lawrenceburg Fire Department’s drone team providing support to the investigation.

At this time, authorities have not released further details regarding the identity of the victim, and the investigation remains ongoing.
