NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A late-night shooting in East Nashville has left a woman critically injured after multiple shots were fired at a duplex on Treutlan Place. The incident occurred just after 11 p.m. on Sunday, prompting a swift response from the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD).
According to authorities, over 16 bullet casings were discovered on the street in the aftermath of the attack. One of the bullets struck a woman in the chest as she lay in her bed, causing serious injuries. The victim, whose identity has not been released, called 911, prompting officers to break into a window to assist her. She was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
The gunfire also struck the other side of the duplex, but fortunately, the two individuals inside were unharmed. Neighbors reported hearing a flurry of shots followed by the sound of tires screeching as a vehicle sped away from the scene.
MNPD is investigating the incident as a drive-by shooting and is working to gather more information about the suspects involved. No arrests have been made at this time.
The motive behind the attack remains unclear, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
