CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. — A tense situation unfolded on Monday afternoon as Clarksville police attempted to negotiate with a person barricaded inside a residence. Officers shut down a portion of McClardy Road at Preachers Mill Road as they established a secure perimeter around the home located at 1300 Sharptail Trail.
The standoff, which began shortly before 5 p.m., prompted authorities to advise residents within the perimeter to leave the area, with the understanding that they would not be allowed to return until it was deemed safe. The barricade situation ended hours later when police confirmed they had made contact with the individual inside the residence. However, authorities soon clarified that the person they spoke with was not the suspect they had been searching for.
Matthew Epps IV, a 29-year-old man, remains at large. He is wanted on active warrants for charges including false imprisonment and domestic assault. Despite the resolution of the barricade situation, the search for Epps continues.
Clarksville police are urging anyone with information regarding his whereabouts to contact authorities immediately by calling 911. While the perimeter was lifted and residents were allowed to return home, the investigation into Epps’ location remains ongoing.
