Clarksville, Tenn. — Authorities are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Saturday night at the Clarksville Speedway and Fairgrounds, resulting in the death of a 15-year-old boy.
According to the Clarksville Police Department, off-duty officers assisting with the ongoing fair heard gunshots from the parking lot near the venue’s entrance around 9:10 p.m. on May 31. Responding officers found the teenage victim with a gunshot wound to the chest and immediately transported him to Tennova Healthcare, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Witnesses reported seeing five to six males fleeing the area on foot toward Hazelwood Road following the shooting. Police have described the incident as isolated and continue to pursue leads.
Authorities are urging residents and business owners in the vicinity with surveillance cameras to review their footage and report any suspicious activity to law enforcement by calling 911.
