NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A Nashville teenager was tragically killed in a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 40 West late Saturday night. The incident, which occurred around 10:30 p.m. near Spence Lane, prompted the closure of the interstate for several hours while authorities conducted an investigation.

According to the Metro Nashville Police Department, 17-year-old Chance Lee Kimbro was driving a Ford Fusion westbound on I-40 when the vehicle rear-ended a semi-truck. The force of the impact caused the Ford to spin multiple times, ejecting Kimbro from the car. He fell onto the roadway, where he was struck by another vehicle. Kimbro was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash, which involved multiple vehicles, led to a significant delay on I-40 West, as the highway was shut down during the investigation. Police confirmed that the Ford Fusion had been reported stolen just hours earlier, at approximately 6:15 p.m., from a residence in Whites Creek.

Witnesses at the scene reported seeing the Ford traveling at high speeds and swerving between lanes before the collision. However, authorities have stated that no evidence of drugs or alcohol was found at the scene.

In addition to Kimbro’s death, authorities revealed that the passenger in the Ford Fusion, whose identity has not yet been released, fled the scene. The passenger reportedly entered a vehicle driven by another individual who had stopped to assist. This person left the area before officers arrived.

The investigation into the crash remains ongoing, and police are urging anyone with additional information to come forward.

This tragic accident underscores the dangers of high-speed driving and the importance of responsible vehicle operation. Further updates will be provided as more details emerge from the ongoing investigation.
