Murfreesboro, Tenn. — Authorities in Murfreesboro were called to a local church Tuesday evening after an online bomb threat prompted an evacuation. The threat was directed at New Vision Church, leading to swift action by church officials and law enforcement.
According to Greg Freeman, the executive pastor of New Vision, the church’s safety team was immediately alerted to the potential danger and took the situation “very seriously.” The church’s safety protocols were activated, and law enforcement was quickly notified. Freeman expressed gratitude for the quick response, both from the church’s team and local first responders.
“We are thankful for the swift response of our team and all first responders,” Freeman said in a statement. “We will continue to cooperate with the police department in any way we can as they continue their investigation.”
As a precautionary measure, all remaining church activities for the evening were canceled.
Murfreesboro police issued a statement shortly before 8:30 p.m., confirming that a thorough search of the church had been conducted, but no bomb was found on the premises. However, authorities detained a teenager in connection with the threat and are currently questioning them.
