- Advertisment -

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Murfreesboro Pike, a major roadway south of downtown Nashville, was closed Thursday morning due to significant flooding. The closure, which took place around 5 a.m., affected traffic near both Foster Avenue and Lester Avenue.

Reports indicate that at least one vehicle was fully submerged near Foster Avenue, while five other vehicles were caught in rising waters near Lester Avenue. Fortunately, all occupants of the submerged vehicles were able to safely escape, and no injuries have been reported.

Local authorities have not provided an estimate on when the flooding will recede or when Murfreesboro Pike will reopen to traffic. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternative routes while crews work to manage the situation.

The Nashville area has been experiencing heavy rainfall, which is believed to be the primary cause of the flooding. Drivers are urged to remain cautious as conditions in the region may continue to change throughout the day.

Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
