Franklin, Tenn. — Authorities in Franklin successfully apprehended a suspect in connection with a shooting that took place on West Main Street Monday afternoon. After an extensive search lasting several hours, the suspect voluntarily turned himself in to the Franklin Police Department.

The shooting, which occurred on the busy street, resulted in one man sustaining a non-life-threatening injury to his lower leg. Franklin Police Department’s Public Information Officer, Max Winitz, confirmed that the victim is expected to survive the incident.

“It is quite rare for something like this to happen,” Winitz told News 2, emphasizing the unusual nature of the situation. “What’s not rare is the hard work and diligence that the men and women of the Franklin Police Department put into every investigation — this one included.”

According to police, the shooting was an isolated incident, and investigators focused their efforts on the immediate area where the crime occurred. Authorities took to social media, specifically X (formerly known as Twitter), to announce that additional information would be provided as the investigation continues.

The swift resolution of the case, with the suspect’s voluntary surrender, marks a rare but welcome turn in what could have been a more drawn-out investigation. Franklin police continue to work on gathering further details, and it is expected that the full circumstances surrounding the incident will become clearer in the coming days.

As of now, the investigation remains active, and Franklin authorities are expected to release more information as it becomes available.
