Multi-Vehicle Crash Closes Portion of I-24 in Rutherford County

Rutherford County, Tenn. — A multi-vehicle crash, involving a semi-truck, caused significant disruptions along Interstate 24 in Rutherford County Wednesday night into Thursday morning. The incident, which occurred just after 11 p.m. on March 12, led to the closure of the westbound lanes near Waldron Road.

According to the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT), traffic was at a standstill for several hours as emergency crews worked to clear the scene. By 4 a.m. Thursday, the westbound lanes between Smyrna and La Vergne remained closed, prompting authorities to advise drivers to seek alternate routes.

As of 5:20 a.m., the westbound lanes were fully reopened, allowing traffic to resume its normal flow. However, no further details regarding the cause of the crash or any injuries have been released at this time.

Motorists in the area were urged to stay updated on traffic conditions as authorities continue to investigate the incident.
