NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A man who was critically wounded in a shooting outside a South Nashville gas station on Monday afternoon has died, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD).

The shooting occurred just before 1 p.m. on Monday at a gas station located on Linbar Drive near Wallace Road. The MNPD’s preliminary investigation revealed that the victim’s vehicle had been closely following the suspect’s vehicle as both cars traveled along Linbar Drive toward the gas station. Upon reaching the station, both vehicles pulled into the parking lot, and the victim, later identified as 24-year-old Cameron Dorsey from Memphis, parked at a fuel pump.

It was at that point that the suspect’s vehicle circled around the pump island before the driver’s side door opened. Multiple shots were then fired into Dorsey’s vehicle, striking him. After the shooting, the suspect’s vehicle quickly fled the scene.

Dorsey, who was critically injured, was transported to a nearby hospital but was later pronounced dead from his wounds. Authorities have confirmed that Dorsey had been free on a $45,000 bond for a December 26, 2024, cocaine-related arrest at the time of the shooting. Police also discovered a small plastic baggie containing what appeared to be crack cocaine in his possession, though it remains unclear whether this is connected to the motive behind the shooting.

The MNPD is actively investigating the incident and has called on the public for assistance. Anyone with information regarding the shooting is urged to contact Nashville Crime Stoppers at (615) 742-7463. Tipsters can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $5,000.

Authorities are continuing to piece together details about the incident and are exploring all possible leads. The investigation is ongoing.
