Nashville, Tenn. — A tense situation in Donelson was peacefully resolved early Monday morning after Metro Nashville Police Department’s SWAT team successfully negotiated the surrender of a man who had initially answered the door with a rifle.
The incident began Sunday evening when officers responded to a welfare check at a residence on the 2700 block of Riverbend Drive. According to officials, the man opened the door holding a rifle, prompting officers to retreat for safety. A gunshot was reportedly heard shortly thereafter, which led to the deployment of the SWAT team.
After several hours of negotiation, the situation was peacefully resolved when the man surrendered to authorities around 3 a.m. Monday without resistance. Thankfully, no injuries were reported during the standoff.
Metro Nashville Police confirmed that the man had outstanding warrants at the time of the incident, though additional details regarding the nature of those warrants were not immediately available.
