Fatal Crash Closes I-24 in Cheatham County Early Friday Morning

Nashville, TN – Interstate 24 in Cheatham County was shut down early Friday morning following a fatal crash in the westbound lanes. The incident occurred near mile marker 29 at approximately 2:30 a.m.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol confirmed that at least one person was killed in the crash, though further details about the circumstances have not yet been released. Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.

In response to the closure, detours have been put in place to help reroute traffic around the scene. Motorists are advised to exit at mile marker 31, which is New Hope Road, and then take Highway 41A north to Highway 49W. Drivers can re-enter I-24 westbound at mile marker 24.

The Tennessee Department of Transportation has stated that the roadway is not expected to reopen until approximately 10 a.m.

As of now, no additional information has been provided. The Tennessee Highway Patrol continues to work at the scene.
