Nashville, TN — A man wanted in connection with a brutal attack on three teenage girls was taken into custody late last night, according to law enforcement officials. Dejuan Moore, 23, was apprehended on multiple charges, including two counts of aggravated rape, three counts of aggravated assault, and three counts of kidnapping, stemming from a violent incident that occurred on November 24.
The harrowing events unfolded around 2 a.m. when three girls—two 17-year-olds and a 15-year-old—were parked in their vehicle at a gas station. Moore reportedly approached the teens and invited them to a party. After they declined, Moore allegedly followed them in his car, aggressively flashing his high beam headlights in an attempt to force them to pull over. Fearful for their safety, the girls drove off and turned into a secluded area behind a Dollar General store located at 82 Lafayette Street. However, Moore reportedly followed them and stopped his vehicle behind theirs. He then approached the car, pulled out a gun, and forcibly removed two of the teens from their vehicle. Both girls were sexually assaulted by Moore while the third teen, who remained in the back seat, managed to call 911. Officers arrived on the scene shortly after the call was made, and the victims were able to flee to safety. Moore, however, managed to evade capture, fleeing the area in a Chrysler 300, which was later recovered by police.
Detectives from the Youth Services Juvenile Sexual Assault Unit, along with investigators from the Violent Crimes Division, worked together to track down Moore. His arrest was the result of a coordinated effort by local law enforcement, culminating in his capture last night. Moore is currently being held at the Metro Jail and is expected to be formally booked on the charges. Authorities have praised the quick response of the victims, especially the teen who made the 911 call, as critical in ensuring the attack did not result in further harm.
